Meet Our Sister School
Practical Nursing in Columbus is now offered by the American Institute of Alternative Medicine (AIAM), an accredited Columbus school. The program is built on Alia's curriculum and teaching philosophy, and the AIAM team is led by Sandra Osman, RN, MSN. Students who enroll at AIAM may apply for federal financial aid, subject to federal eligibility.
Alia is not currently accepting new LPN students. New Practical Nursing applicants enroll at AIAM. Read the full program update
What the partnership means for you
Two Columbus schools, one goal: getting you licensed and working.
Federal financial aid
AIAM participates in Title IV programs. Students who enroll in AIAM's Practical Nursing program may apply for Pell Grants and federal student loans through AIAM's financial aid office. Eligibility and award amounts are determined by the U.S. Department of Education. Alia does not process financial aid.
Alia's approach
Alia's curriculum and teaching philosophy are what AIAM's Practical Nursing program is built on, and the AIAM team is now led by Sandra Osman, RN, MSN, Alia's President and principal instructor. Students are enrolled in AIAM's program, which is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing under provisional approval (program code US20103200).
Three decades of teaching
AIAM has trained Columbus healthcare professionals for more than 30 years. AIAM is accredited by the ACCSC, and its Practical Nursing program is approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing under provisional approval (program code US20103200). AIAM is registered with the Ohio Department of Higher Education (registration 1489T).
Five miles up the road
AIAM's campus at 6685 Doubletree Avenue is about five miles from Alia's Columbus location. Same commute, same community.
Why we're partnering with AIAM
Alia has always been a specialist school: small classes, working instructors, and training built around what Ohio healthcare employers actually need. Alia's own Practical Nursing program has been approved by the Ohio Board of Nursing since 2020 and holds full approval today (program code US20111100). Taking a Practical Nursing program to its full potential takes something more: a financial aid office, bigger labs, and the kind of campus that only comes with time.
Rather than make LPN students wait for us to build all of that, we joined forces with a school that already has it. AIAM brings the infrastructure and the federal aid access. Alia brings the curriculum and the teaching philosophy behind it. You get both from day one.
Everything else about Alia stays exactly as it is. Nurse Aide Training, Medication Aide, Home Caregiver, and CPR classes continue at our Columbus and Cincinnati campuses, enrolling now.
